My Top 5 Favorite Beauty Routine Tips

I personally don’t like spending hours getting ready to go somewhere. I end up getting
exhausted and grumpy and not in the mood to go anywhere. Surely I can’t be the only one who
feels this way right? Luckily I’ve picked up some tips and tricks that make my daily beauty
routine a lot easier and more tolerable. You didn’t ask for them but I’m giving them to you
anyway!

Baby Powder for Oily Roots
I have very thick, naturally curly hair and there’s nothing I dread more than blow drying it.
Ughhhhh. For this reason and the general health of my hair, I avoid washing and blow drying it more than once a week. I’m like a gremlin, DO NOT GET MY HAIR WET. When my roots start to feel oily I sprinkle on a little baby powder, rub it in, and brush out any excess. I also use a soft bristle brush to distribute the oils so I don’t get build up. I’ve tried a lot of dry shampoos, but baby powder works the best for me. It’s light in texture, inexpensive, smells nice, and adds a nice lift to my roots. Thumbs up.

Pink Foam Rollers for Easy Curls
I avoid heat styling whenever possible so that’s why I rely on my good old pink foam rollers. I’ve worn them since I was little and they always tamed my naturally curly hair into perfect little ringlets. A lot of people assume you only use these on wet hair, but I like to use mine on my dry hair to give me a nice curl touch up without using a curling iron.

Whipped Argan Oil
I loooove Argan oil, but I have to admit I’m not very good at using oils to moisturize my skin. I don’t know if I’m an idiot or what, but I never seem to apply the right amount. However, I got some WHIPPED argan, which has the texture of a regular body cream, and I love it! After I get out of the shower I immediately apply it to my face and body and it lasts all day. I also run whatever is left over on my hands through my hair. It helps keep my frizz in check! I like Josie Maran’s.

Cold Mist Humidifier
This isn’t really a beauty routine tip BUT hear me out. Dry air can cause a whole slew of skin problems, especially redness from dry skin. This means you need to spend more time trying to correct this with makeup and lotions blah blah blah. Annoying! I finally gave in and tried a humidifier and I love it. It has helped my skin tone and texture a ton, which means less time spent fussing with skin issues! Yayyy!

And finally…

A 10 Minute Makeup Routine
This has been the biggest game changer for me. I picked out my absolute must-haves for a
simple morning makeup routine and trained myself to complete it in less than 10 minutes. It’s nothing fancy or glam, but it works and gets me out the door. It consists of applying only the basics. For me it’s:
A light foundation. I like Naked Skin by Urban Decay.
Fill in brows. I like Ka-BROW by Benefit.
A little contouring on the cheekbones and highlight on the brow bone. I like NYX highlight & contouring palette for this.
A bit of blush. I’m loving Majorette by Benefit at the moment.
A quick swipe of liner. I use a sharp pencil to first draw a guide line because its easier to control, and then go over it with liquid liner.
A coat of Mascara. I like Rollerlash by Benefit.
